ARSENAL XHAKA 16 2016/17 Puma Home Shirt
On 25 May 2016, Arsenal signed Xhaka from Borussia Mönchengladbach for a fee of around £30–35 million. Xhaka made his first appearance for Arsenal (as a half-time substitution) in a 2–1 win against the MLS All-Stars.
Francis Coquelin already holding the No 34 shirt he desires, Xhaka decided to take on the vacant no 16 shirt after Aaron Ramsey changed to no.8 vacated by Mikel Arteta. However a week later, the Swiss international has had a change of heart. The club confirmed that Xhaka will now wear the No 29 shirt, and the player revealed that he’s made the decision because the number represents his birth year reversed, having been born in 1992.
Arsenal have promised to put Xhaka’s new number on any shirts that were ordered while he was still wearing No.16. “We had previously announced he would be wearing No 16,” the club explained. “Supporters who ordered shirts with his name and the original number via Arsenal Direct or in Arsenal stores will have their shirts automatically printed with the new number.
Xhaka won the FA Cup in his first season with Arsenal FC.
